Community Work Days

COMMUNITY BUILDING

Join us in connecting with community members through urban agriculture.

Our Community Work Days take place at the Mt. Hope Community Garden every 3rd Saturday of the month from 9am to 11am. Filled with gardening activities, music, refreshments, and community camaraderie, our work days are a great way to start your weekend!

Our goal is building relationship wealth with our community members while imparting the healthy aspects of urban gardening. Community gardening is good for the body, good for the mind, and great for the soul!

COMMUNITY COMPOSTING

Environmental justice through community action.

At the Mt. Hope Community Garden we provide a community composting section where we take food scraps from local businesses and community members along with organic garden waste and create what we call “Black Gold” – a nutrient-dense compost that creates extremely fertile soil for growing.

On average we compost around 3,000 lbs. of food scraps per month, and we offer free compost to our community members at the garden. We encourage all in our community to take an active part in composting food scraps as part of our environmental justice component to build climate change resiliency in our communities.
